The résumé version, for people who want dates and bullets instead of my opinions about control planes. Newest first — see about for the opinions, or community for talks and CNCF stuff.

Akamai Technologies

Software Engineer II — Sep 2024 to present — Cambridge, MA (Remote)

Member of the Kubernetes Product Platform (KPP) team. We build a curated, opinionated Kubernetes platform — the platform I ramble about on the about page is this one, so at least I have to live with my own opinions. Built-in infrastructure provisioning, metrics, logging, monitoring, and alerting. My job is to keep it highly available, easily scalable, and boring in the specific ways PCI and CIS auditors like.

Pegasystems

Two years, two titles, one very long relationship with New Relic dashboards.

Software Engineer — Apr 2022 to Aug 2022 — Hyderabad, India

Backend engineer with a DevOps role on a cross-functional scrum team, building scalable microservices with Java, Kotlin, Micronaut, OData, REST, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Docker, and AWS.

  • Engineering owner for integrating OData capabilities into the Pega Platform, released in Pega 8.8.
  • Led a proof of concept letting Pega application developers run custom code in AWS — designed a model to securely provision Lambda and API Gateway at authoring time and inject IAM roles into Kubernetes pods in target EKS clusters.
  • Set up dashboards and alerts in New Relic One, significantly cutting root-cause-analysis time for bugs and customer incidents.
  • Mentored newer engineers and the 2022 summer interns; member of the DevOps champions initiative and the Engineering Excellence group.

Associate Software Engineer — Aug 2020 to Apr 2022 — Hyderabad, India

Where I learned that “it works on my machine” is not a monitoring strategy.

  • Built the first Karate integration tests for our services and wired them into the main CI/CD Jenkins pipeline.
  • Implemented JMeter performance tests to establish SLOs/SLIs and monitored uptime in Datadog.
  • Used reactive programming to build a custom retry component, improving microservice resiliency.
  • Formulated dashboards and alerts in New Relic One, improving observability across services.
  • First member of the tribe to receive a Spot Bonus award, for a proof of concept automating dashboard migration from Datadog to New Relic.
